!!Attention!! Here is the biggy!!
Facebook and Instagram, has been flagging tons of breeder posts and taking down MANY breeders posts, and pages, including mine. They have also restricted pages, and removed them completely in some cases. They encourage us to pay for ads, and even have a specific "breeder" category for dog/animal breeders, but then they do this.
I am a 2nd generation dog breeder. I have been doing this my entire life, and I have seen HUGE changes in how things are in the dog world during this time period. There are so many people, who condemn breeders for breeding dogs, no matter how responsible and ethical that they are with their program. They want everyone to adopt the Pit Bulls from the shelters. A rescued Pit Bull may be the right choice for some people, but they aren't the right choice for me and many other people. I will not take that risk with my family. I will not have one on my property, because of my knowledge of how important of a role genetics play, in the temperament and tendencies of a dog.
People have been doing selective breeding on dogs for many years. Those people have purposefully bred dogs to have certain physical and mental traits and with the selective breeding, have made those traits be more and more defined and strong. Those traits are hard wired into a dogs brain from birth. That is why you would choose a dog like a Golden Retriever or Lab, for hunting birds, instead of a Collie or Australian Shepherd. That is why you would choose a Blue heeler, or Border Collie for herding, and not a Golden Retriever. I have researched the Pit Bull breed in depth, and I have also researched the bite statistics and fatal mauling statistics in depth, and what dog breeds are responsible for those statistics. My life style, is not a good fit for a Pit Bull, so I will not have one. For some reason, there are a lot of people who feel the same way, or there wouldn't be so many of them in the shelters to begin with. I believe that it is important, that American's, living in a "free" country, continue to be able to have a CHOICE to what kind of dog that they have, and I also feel it is important to preserve the breeds of our choices. It would be so horrible, if some of these amazing breeds, became extinct or endangered, because of these tactics that are being used right now on responsible and ethical breeders. That being said, I do believe that there does need to be something done, about the puppy mills, and the unethical breeders. I also think that the breeders of the dogs that end up in the shelters and rescues, should be tracked down when possible, and held responsible for those dogs. Whether it be that they need to take the dogs and rehome them, or to care for them financially until they are rehomed if their dogs are habitually showing up there. Those breeders need to be screening their puppy people much more carefully, so that the dogs are not ending up in the shelters. Instead of punishing the responsible and ethical breeders, they need to go address the people that are creating the problem. You don't take driving privilege's away from responsible drivers. You only take them away from people with repeated DUI's.
To get to the point, I just wanted to let you all know, that I will have to be doing things a little differently with my social media accounts and my dogs/puppies, with all of the censorship that is currently occurring. Facebook and Instagram could take down our accounts at any time, so if you want to make sure that you can find us, please sign up for our website newsletter at the bottom of our home page: https://www.eastabrooksstudio.com/ .
Also, if we do get taken down, we still are on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eastabrooksstudio and Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@kje8892 . Please feel free to subscribe to those. As we get caught up on our work a little around here, we are planning on expanding on those platforms, with some new interesting video's, photo's, info, etc. We will also be continuing with Facebook and Instagram, for as long as we can, and we may even look at some new platforms. While on FB and Instagram, I will have to word things carefully, and may have to delete some comments, if they have certain trigger words that could flag us. I will be continuing to leave links to my website, with info, since I won't be able to post certain things on FB and Instagram.
Facebook has gone down hill for me for the last couple of years, because of animal rights activists flagging my page and posts, which has caused me to find other ways to get my puppies and dogs seen, so none of this is too surprising to me, and we have and will roll with it and find ways around it. It is a shame, that people have to be like that, and work so hard at trying to take your freedoms away, but I am of an older generation, that has been around much longer than social media has been, so we still know how to do things without it. However, I have really enjoyed the updates and contact that we have had on social media, with the many families that have gotten a puppy from us, and would hate to lose that, so please sign up for our newsletter, because I will be doing some research on some alternative methods to be able to continue to do that, if the pages are taken down.
That all being said.... December is sure to go quickly, with everyone trying to get prepared for the upcoming Holidays!! I will try to stay in touch, and keep the updates coming, and we so LOVE the photo's and updates that you all send to us, of the Eastabrooks Studio dogs/puppies that you have gotten from us over the years! Please keep them coming!!! Take care, and keep in touch!!
